at 3:30 in the Afternoon

The Historic Palm Mansion
110 North Trowell Avenue, Umatilla, Florida

THE WEDDING

Both the Ceremony and the Reception will take place on the grounds of the Palm Mansion.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00,
so please arrive by 3:30 to get settled, find your seat
and enjoy a little mingling.

Cocktail hour will follow inside the historic house, then we’ll move outside again for dinner and dancing under the stars.

Cocktail Attire

It’s a garden affair, so we recommend shoes suited for grass.

THE VENUE

THE HISTORIC PALM MANSION

If you share the bride’s love for history and storytelling, you might enjoy knowing a bit more about The Palm Mansion. Built in 1904 by Robert L. Collins—a citrus grower who turned hard work and a dream into a legacy—the home was created for his family and has stood as a symbol of that love for over a century.

With the stately columns were originally built from giant palm tree trunks and some of the original wood flooring built from citrus crates, the mansion remained in the same family for six generations before being lovingly restored in 2023 as a wedding venue. The ceremony will take place under the romantic 200-year-old oak tree in the backyard and cocktail hour will invite guests to stroll through the home that features the original fireplace, wallpapers, flooring, and much, much more.

You might also notice a few design details and wedding touches inspired by the home's citrus history heritage—and a nod to Central Florida, the place where the bride and groom met, built a life and now begin their next chapter together.

EXPLORE HISTORIC DOWNTOWN MOUNT DORA

Stroll through Mount Dora's charming historic district, where you'll find a variety of unique boutiques, art galleries, and antique shops. The picturesque streets, lined with palm trees and Spanish moss-draped oaks, provide a delightful setting for leisurely shopping and dining.

VISIT RENNIGER'S ANTIQUE CENTER

For antique enthusiasts, Renninger's Vintage Antique Center & Farmer's Flea Market is a must-visit. This expansive market features a vast array of antiques and collectibles, attracting visitors from all over.

LAKE DORA PADDLEWHEEL BOAT TOUR

The Dora Queen is a charming two-story paddlewheel boat offering scenic cruises on Lake Dora. It's a relaxed, nostalgic way to take in the water views, spot wildlife, and enjoy the breeze—with music, drinks, and good company along for the ride. A fun outing for couples or groups looking to slow down and soak up the local vibe.

MOUNT DORA GHOST TOUR

We definitely recommend doing the Mount Dora Ghost Walk—a lantern-lit tour through the city’s haunted history and local stories. We actually did this on one of our very first dates to celebrate Kent’s 27th birthday. It’s spooky, quirky, and a fun way to see a different side of town.

THE NATURAL SPRINGS

November marks the start of manatee season in Florida, making it a great time to visit spots like Wekiwa Springs, Alexander Springs, or Juniper Springs. As the weather cools, manatees and other wildlife gather in the warmer spring waters. It’s a peaceful time for kayaking, hiking, and spotting native birds, turtles, and (if you’re lucky) a gentle manatee or two.

OCALA NATIONAL FOREST

Just a short drive from Umatilla, the Ocala National Forest offers hiking trails, natural springs, and abundant wildlife. It's perfect for outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore Florida's natural beauty.

DISNEY RESORT BAR CRAWL

Looking for a little grown-up fun with a touch of magic? Try a self-guided Disney Resort Bar Crawl. Hop between iconic resorts like the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary via the monorail or boat—each stop offering themed lounges, creative cocktails, and plenty of atmosphere. No park ticket required.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH

Just under an hour from the venue, New Smyrna is the closest beach we recommend. With laid-back vibes, soft sand, and great local spots to eat and explore, it’s perfect for a relaxed Florida day trip.

FAQs

What's the dress code?

We kindly ask guests to dress in cocktail attire for the celebration. Think—dresses, jumpsuits, or dressy separates for women; suits or sport coats and slacks for men. Ladies, the wedding will be happening on the lawn, so block heels, wedges or flats might be best.

This is an outdoor wedding in Florida, and November is usually one of the most beautiful months of the year—mild, sunny, and pleasantly warm. That said, Florida likes to keep us on our toes, so we recommend keeping an eye on the forecast to see just how balmy or breezy it might be. Heating or shade will be available as needed.

Will there be dinner served?

Come hungry—we'll be serving a full dinner along with delicious appetizers during cocktail hour to tide you over. Let us know when you RSVP if you have any dietary restrictions so that we can make sure we take care of you.

Are children invited to the wedding?

We adore your kids—but this will be an adults-only celebration (with the exception of our flower girl). We're so grateful for your understanding as we create a space where everyone can relax, have a cocktail, let loose and dance the night away!

Do I get a plus one?

We’ve done our best to thoughtfully create our guest list keeping space and planning in mind. If your invitation includes a plus one, their name (or “+ Guest”) will appear on your mailed invitation envelope. If you're unsure, feel free to reach out—we're happy to clarify!

Is there parking available at the venue?

Yes, plenty! There's a grass parking lot at the venue, you can't miss it.

Are there Ubers available?

Yes, Ubers are available! The venue isn’t in a city or suburban area, so wait times can be 15–20 minutes. We recommend scheduling ahead or sharing a ride with another guest staying in Mount Dora.

Thank you for celebrating with us—whether it's near or far.
We are so grateful for our friends and family during this beautiful chapter.
